About Us

From Idea to Innovation

2018

GreenFoilNature's journey began in 2018 when Philipp Wisse and Tobias Irkens, experts in medical technology and pharmaceuticals, met and worked together on innovative solutions.

2020

In 2020, they developed their first algae-based medical products, including canker sore patches and nasal spray, and discovered the potential of natural polymers as a sustainable alternative to fossil-based plastics.

2021

In 2021, they presented their idea at the start-up competition start2grow in Dortmund.

2023

Founding of GreenFoliNature GmbH.

2024

The move to Schwerte,

Wandhofen took

place in 2024.

2025

Market launch of our coating F28 and our pulp additive F23.

Philipp Wisse

Philipp is a co-founder of GreenFoilNature and ensures that good ideas become real products. After graduating with a degree in biomedical engineering from the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences, he worked for over ten years in the pharmaceutical and medical technology sectors, including on pacemakers, alginate-based artificial skin substitutes, and drug-like medical devices.

At GreenFoilNature, Philipp combines technical understanding with a pragmatic view of what is feasible. He considers developments from beginning to end, always keeping in mind how an idea becomes a reliable, marketable product.

He is driven by the conviction that sustainable innovations must emerge today. As a father of three, he knows that progress always entails responsibility.

Tobias Irkens

As the creative force behind the team, Tobias always thinks outside the box. His greatest strength lies in translating innovative ideas into functional and implementable solutions. As a co-founder of GreenFoilNature, he takes care of the technical foundations and ensures that ideas become working solutions.

After studying pharmacy, he worked as a licensed pharmacist and in medical technology, where he also met his co-founder Philipp.

At GreenFoilNature, Tobias ensures that materials not only look good on paper, but also actually work in reality. That's precisely what he works on : solutions that are measurably effective, reproducibly manufacturable, and scalable.

His goal is clear: to create sustainable alternatives to plastic that are not only well-intentioned but will prevail in the market.
